Former Capital One Associate General Counsel Joins New Orleans Office

New Orleans, LA (November 21, 2014) – Chaffe McCall, L.L.P is pleased to announce that Anthony “Tony” Dunbar, former Capital One Associate General Counsel, has joined the firm’s New Orleans office. Dunbar will serve as Partner in the Firm’s Real Estate and Finance section.

With more than 25 years of experience in legal and management roles with financial institutions, Dunbar offers clients an in-depth understanding of complex banking matters as well as legal issues presented in closing real estate finance transitions and commercial loan related litigation.

About Anthony Dunbar

As the highest possible Martindale-Hubbell peer-rated attorney for his legal ability and ethical standards, Dunbar joins Chaffe McCall after serving as Associate General Counsel with Capital One.  During that time he oversaw the bank’s enterprise-wide commercial loan related litigation, workout and asset sales.  In addition to serving as in-house for eight years with Capital One, he was also with Hibernia National Bank, as both in-house and outside counsel, for 15 years.  Throughout his nearly 30-year career, Dunbar has counseled borrowers and lenders on industry practices and the application of state and federal laws to their businesses.  He also has experience in negotiating complex lending and asset sale transactions and restructurings, as well as structuring and documenting secured and unsecured loan transactions of every description.

Mr. Dunbar has served for two terms as a Hearing Committee Chair for the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board. He has also maintained an active pro bono practice, primarily with abused and neglected children.  Dunbar is a frequent lecturer on legal ethics and is the author of several novels and works of non-fiction.

Dunbar is a member of the Louisiana and Texas Bar Associations. He received his Juris Doctor from the Tulane University School of Law and was an honors graduate from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
