Tony Dunbar brings years of experience in financial transactions to address the business and banking needs of individuals and institutions.   As Senior Counsel, Tony’s practice focuses on commercial transactions, banking, litigation, and real estate matters.

Immediately before joining Chaffe McCall, Dunbar spent eight-years at Capital One, N.A. as associate general counsel.  During that time he managed a team of attorneys in New York and Louisiana and oversaw the bank’s commercial loan-related litigation, workout, and asset sales. Prior to that, Tony represented  Hibernia National Bank for 15 years as an in-house attorney and as outside counsel, concentrating on complex financial transactions, real estate lending, and syndicated loans.

Tony has been active as a Hearing Committee Chair for the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board and has lectured on legal ethics.  He has been involved as a board member of both regional and local organizations including the Southern Regional Council and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). He has maintained an active pro bono practice, primarily with abused and neglected children. He is the author of several novels and works of non-fiction.

Tony is an honors graduate of Brandeis University and the Tulane University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Tulane Law Review and member of the Order of the Coif.   He has carried the highest possible Martindale-Hubbell peer rating in legal ability and ethical standards for more than 15 years.

He is admitted to practice law in Louisiana.
