New Orleans Partner, Peter G. Strasser Nominated to Serve as United States Attorney for the Eastern District for Louisiana

(New Orleans, LA) –Congratulations to Peter G. Strasser, who was nominated by President Trump on June 20, 2018 to serve as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana.  Peter, a Partner in Chaffe McCall’s New Orleans office, is a member of the firm’s Government Investigations and White-Collar Criminal Defense and the International Law sections.

Before joining Chaffe McCall in 2013, Peter was Assistant U.S. Attorney for Louisiana’s Eastern District, where he was the head of the organized crime and economic crime sections. He also served for ten years as a DOJ Legal Attaché at U.S. Embassies in Eastern Europe, Asia, and Africa implementing anti-corruption programs.  Peter also worked at DOJ’s Office of International Affairs in Washington, D.C., coordinating cross-border criminal investigations.

“Peter is a seasoned prosecutor and a dedicated public servant, who is well-equipped to take on this critical position,” said Managing Partner E. Howell Crosby.  “We congratulate him on being nominated for this new role.”

Peter’s nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.  Peter is set to assume the position now held by Acting U.S. Attorney Duane Evans.

 

About Peter G. Strasser

Peter is a seasoned trial lawyer with extensive litigation and compliance experience, including matters arising under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).  He is listed as a qualified arbitrator (neutral) with the American Health Lawyers Dispute Resolution Service.

In addition to previously working for the Department of Justice at home and abroad, Peter served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and retired as a Captain (0-6).  For his exemplary service, he was awarded the Legion of Merit. His campaign and service medals include the Navy Expeditionary Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.  Peter received a J.D. from Washington and Lee University Law School, and a B.A. with distinction from the University of Virginia.  Fluent in German, he also attended the University of Vienna (Austria).
