Chaffe McCall is pleased to announce the election of Julie D. Livaudais as the firm’s new Managing Partner.   A lawyer with Chaffe McCall since 1982, Julie has served on the Management Committee and as Practice Area Coordinator of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group for many years.

Julie takes the reins following the esteemed tenure of E. Howell Crosby, who has served as Managing Partner since 2015.  “I consider it a true privilege to serve as Chaffe McCall’s Managing Partner,” Julie said. “Howell has demonstrated tremendous leadership and has led our firm to higher levels of growth and success.  I pledge to continue the great momentum he has created, to seek out the best of the new and enhance the strengths of our experienced lawyers in service to our clients.”

Chaffe McCall is a full-service corporate defense firm.  Julie will maintain the firm’s focus on priority practice areas, which include Labor & Employment, Admiralty & Maritime, Financial Services, Insurance Coverage, Litigation, Products, Pharmaceutical & Medical Device Defense, Railroad, and Real Estate.  Chaffe McCall will continue to focus on exceptional client service and growth in the Gulf South region.

“We have a very strong leadership team, and I attribute our success to their client-centric focus,” Howell said.  “Our growth is due to the level of expertise we continue to attract and our ability to maintain a collaborative firm culture.”

“Julie is an extremely talented attorney,” added Howell.  “I have the utmost confidence that she will lead Chaffe McCall to many successes in the future.” Howell will continue as Partner assisting clients with complex commercial transactions, banking & finance, as well as real estate matters.

Julie’s election takes place during a very active time for Chaffe McCall.  Recently the firm elected Amy McIntire as a New Orleans Partner and welcomed highly regarded trial lawyer Benjamin Slater to its civil litigation practice.  Also, in the recent past, the firm’s national Government Investigations and White-Collar Criminal Defense group included United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Peter G. Strasser.   Chaffe McCall continues to be recognized by industry-leading publications and research institutions for its exceptional client service in numerous practice areas.

Julie counsels corporate clients ranging from local businesses to multinational corporations, as well as educational institutions and area non-profit organizations in all phases of employment litigation.  She has been listed in numerous industry publications, including Louisiana Super Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America for Employment Law, Top Lawyers by New Orleans magazine, Chambers USA as a Recognised Practitioner, Benchmark Litigation as a “Labor & Employment Star,” and selected as one of the “Top 25 Women Lawyers in Louisiana by Super Lawyers.  Julie was also selected as a Women of the Year honoree by New Orleans City Business and one of the 2013 Activists of the Year honored by St. Charles Avenue Magazine.

As Practice Area Coordinator of Chaffe McCall’s Labor & Employment Practice, Julie has used her deep knowledge of the industry to expand the group’s capabilities and reputation for high-quality legal services.  The section provides counsel and representation in harassment, retaliation and discrimination disputes, union matters, best practices in policies and procedures, employee-disciplinary matters, and trial and appellate litigation in federal and state courts, as well as in arbitrations, mediations, and governmental agencies.  Chaffe McCall’s partners in this practice group average more than 20 years of experience in labor-and-employment law.

In addition, Julie brings a wealth of board experience to Chaffe McCall through her extensive civic and community service.  She is the past president of the boards of directors of The New Orleans Museum of Art, LCMC Health System, Agenda for Children, The Data Center, Longue Vue House & Gardens, Metairie Park Country Day School, The Junior League of New Orleans, and Tulane Law School’s Advisory Board.  Julie earned her bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and her J.D. degree with honors from the Tulane University Law School, where she was a member of the Law Review.
