Chaffe McCall Promotes Douglas R. Holmes for Managing Partner

Chaffe McCall is pleased to announce its new Managing Partner, Douglas R. Holmes.   A lawyer with Chaffe McCall since 2000, Doug has served on the Management Committee, several other firm committees, and as a member of the Civil and Commercial Litigation Practice Groups for many years.

Doug succeeds Julie Livaudais, who served as Managing Partner during the COVID Pandemic.  “I am proud and humbled to be elected by my partners at Chaffe McCall and consider it a true privilege to serve as the Firm’s Managing Partner,” Doug said. “Julie has demonstrated tremendous leadership and has led our firm’s growth, success, and inclusive representation during her tenure.  I welcome this opportunity to follow her tradition of excellence.”

Chaffe McCall is a full-service corporate defense firm.  Doug will maintain the firm’s focus on priority practice areas, which include Insurance Coverage, Litigation, Labor & Employment, Admiralty & Maritime, Financial Services, Products, Pharmaceutical & Medical Device Defense, Railroad, and Real Estate.  Chaffe McCall will continue to emphasize exceptional client service and growth in the Gulf South region.

Doug’s election takes place during a very active time for Chaffe McCall.  Recently the firm welcomed litigation lawyer Joseph Dronet to its commercial litigation practice.   Chaffe McCall continues to be recognized by industry-leading publications and research institutions for its exceptional client service in numerous practice areas.

With over 25 years of practice, Doug has extensive experience supporting clients on sophisticated issues involving business disputes, products, and premises-liability actions, trucking and transportation claims, construction litigation, and insurance coverage and defense.  He has been listed in numerous industry publications, including Louisiana Super Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America, and Top Lawyers by New Orleans magazine. Doug is recognized as a Leadership in Law honoree by New Orleans City Business, and he has an AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rating in Martindale-Hubbell. 

In addition, Doug brings a wealth of board experience to Chaffe McCall through his extensive civic and community service.  Doug sits on the board of the Metropolitan Crime Commission and is the former President of the New Orleans Association of Defense Counsel.  He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the New Orleans Bar Association.  He is a past director of the New Orleans Center for Nonprofit Resources and a past member of the New Orleans Track Club.  In 2005, he was elected as a Fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation, and he has served as a judge for Tulane Law School’s Moot Court competition.  Doug is a member of the Louisiana and Texas State Bar Associations.

Doug earned his bachelor’s degree as well as his J.D. degree from Tulane University.  While at Tulane, he was inducted into Kappa Delta Phi and Omicron Delta Kappa honorary societies.  He also served as the captain of Tulane’s tennis team.
