Chaffe McCall Partner Harold K. Watson Newly Elected a Fellow to the American College of Coverage Counsel

(Houston, TX) – Chaffe McCall is pleased to announce that Harold K. (“Hal”) Watson, Partner in the firm’s Houston office, has been elected as a Fellow in the American College of Coverage Counsel (ACCC).  ACCC is considered to be the country’s leading honorary organization for U.S. practicing insurance attorneys.  Election to the ACCC is by invitation only through a rigorous evaluation process.  Lawyers are selected for their integrity, outstanding legal ability, and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of insurance law.

Hal is a seasoned insurance litigator for both domestic and international insurer clients.  He heads the firm’s Houston office and is the Practice Area Coordinator of Chaffe McCall’s Admiralty and Maritime section.   As the first lawyer from Houston to hold the position of President of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, Hal’s practice encompasses a broad range of areas of maritime law, with a particular focus on marine and energy insurance law.  For a number of years Hal has been selected in the Chambers USA guide, where references state that he is an “active attorney with great experience in the industry.”  He has been selected for inclusion in Texas Super Lawyers for Insurance Law and listed in Who’s Who Legal for Transport: Shipping.  He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® guide and was named Houston “Lawyer of the Year” for Admiralty and Maritime Law. Hal was also named as one of five “go to” maritime lawyers in Texas by Texas Lawyer.  He has handled matters related to marine and energy insurance claims in numerous states across the U.S., as well as claims around the world, and has been lead counsel in landmark decisions in the field of marine and energy insurance law.  Hal is a leader in the field with great depth and stature.
