Firm mourns the passing of Partner Robert B. Fisher

With deep sorrow, Chaffe McCall mourns the passing of its New Orleans partner, Robert B. Fisher, who died on April 25, 2016.

Over the past forty years, Rob Fisher has had an outstanding legal career as a maritime and admiralty lawyer. He received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1973 from Tulane University and Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966. Fisher practiced in Chaffe McCall’s New Orleans office between 1974 and 2016 in a broad range of domestic and international cases. Before attending law school, he served as an officer in the United States Navy from 1966 through 1970, where he was stationed aboard destroyer-type vessels operating worldwide. As a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve he taught a course on the Collision Regulations and became familiar with lower Mississippi River pilotage while assigned to a vessel operating out of New Orleans.

Throughout his career, Fisher showed a relentless commitment and dedication to his work and clients. He has been ranked by SuperLawyers magazine and listed in The Best Lawyers in America®. He was a member of the West Feliciana Port Commission and a member of the Board of Editors of Shipping and Transport International magazine. He was the author of numerous law review and periodical articles, as well as seminar papers on a wide variety of maritime topics.

Rob Fisher died after a long and valiant struggle with cancer. Each of us at the firm not only grieves at the passing of a tremendous individual but also for the loss his family suffers. “He was a true gentleman and friend. Rob will be missed by all of us here at Chaffe McCall. On so many levels, he was an exceptional human being. He was a brilliant lawyer and colleague whose long standing expertise in admiralty law and understood the importance of client service,” said managing Partner, E. Howell Crosby.
