With deep sorrow, Chaffe McCall mourns the passing of  former New Orleans Managing Partner, Charles “Charlie” L. Chassaignac, who died on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the age of 77.

Charlie had an outstanding legal career as a Products Liability and Commercial Litigation lawyer.  He was a long-time partner with Chaffe McCall, serving as the Managing Partner, acting chair of the Partner’s Compensation Committee, and Practice Area Coordinator.  During his tenure, he litigated some of the largest cases the firm handled.

Charlie practiced in Chaffe McCall’s New Orleans office between 1969 and 2004 handling a broad range of domestic and international cases.  He received his Juris Doctor degree from Louisiana State University Law School and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Tulane University.  He was admitted to the Bar of the State of Louisiana, and served as law clerk for the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal. Before attending law school, he served as a Special Agent of the Office of Special Investigation (OSI) of the United States Air Force from 1961 through 1964.

Throughout his career, Charlie showed a relentless commitment and dedication to his work and clients.  “Charlie will be remembered as a passionate lawyer, great leader, friend, and family man.  He served as a mentor to many of us here. He was admired by those in the community and around the country for his skill, professionalism, and advocacy.  He will be sorely missed.” said attorney John Olinde.
