Heather von Sternberg

Heather S. von Sternberg is passionate about the law and the prospect of using her talents and skills to achieve justice for clients.   As a member of the Insurance Practice in the Houston office of Chaffe McCall, she has assisted clients in preparing coverage opinions under various types of policies, including primary, excess, and umbrella policies and involving coverages such as property, general liability, various marine coverages, professional liability, business auto, and builders’ risk.

Heather also has significant experience in the following areas:

  • Drafting denial letters and reservations of rights
  • Preparing and litigating declaratory judgment actions

Prior to joining Chaffe McCall, Heather represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of litigation cases, with an emphasis on civil litigation, commercial litigation, and personal injury.  Heather’s experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants gives her a unique perspective and skill set to analyze and resolve client challenges.

Throughout her career as a defense lawyer, Heather represented both large and small companies.  She has extensive federal court experience and has tried cases for juries and the bench.  She has also tried cases to verdict in state courts around Texas.

Heather has developed extensive trial experience on the defense side of the bar.  Her success stems from her in-depth knowledge of a client’s business, with a careful eye for detail to formulate effective litigation strategies and obtain cost-efficient results.

As a first-year attorney, Heather was selected to work in-house with a London client, where she gained invaluable experience in the inner workings of the London insurance market.  Heather received her law degree cum laude from the University of Houston Law School.  She obtained a business degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
