Mid-level Insurance Defense Attorney 

Chaffe McCall, a highly regarded regional law firm, is seeking an experienced insurance defense attorney to join their Houston office.  The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker with a strong legal background and excellent writing skills.  This is an opportunity for a dedicated attorney to further their career within a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Position Overview:

This position offers the opportunity to work on complex insurance matters, including insurance litigation, risk assessment and analysis, navigating intricate insurance issues, ranging from first-party property claims to significant personal injury cases.  We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in maritime, energy, transportation, and general casualty litigation, first and third party property litigation, insurance coverage matters, and a deep understanding of the insurance industry, allowing them to help clients resolve challenging insurance issues.  Experience representing domestic and international insurers and reinsurers in both first-party and third-party matters throughout the United States is highly valued. Trial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a diverse caseload of insurance defense matters, providing legal counsel and representation to clients.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to develop effective legal strategies.
• Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations as necessary.
• Collaborate with a team of experienced attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to achieve successful outcomes for clients.
• Stay current with legal developments and industry trends in insurance defense.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active and in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
• 5 – 10 years of experience practicing insurance defense law.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• In-depth knowledge of insurance coverage and the insurance industry.
• Experience representing domestic and international insurers and reinsurers, including first-party and third-party matters throughout the U.S.
