Valerie Moss Andrews

Associate

Valerie strives to build lasting relationships with her clients by establishing trust and providing guidance through every step of their case.  Valerie is an associate in the New Orleans office of Chaffe McCall and a member of the Firm’s Insurance practice.  She assists clients in complex commercial litigation suits and provides litigation strategies that offer a comprehensive approach based on legal, economic, and industry trends.

Prior to joining Chaffe McCall, Valerie worked at the Capital Defense Project of Southeast Louisiana, representing indigent clients in capital criminal cases at the trial level.  During her service, she was actively involved in every aspect of her client’s defenses, from pre-trial strategy and investigation to discovery and trial.  Her experience has allowed her to develop strong relationships and rapport with opposing counsel and judges in the region, allowing her to develop trust with her clients and assist in obtaining favorable results on their behalf.

Immediately after law school, Valerie worked for a respected law firm in the Mississippi Pine Belt area representing defendants in criminal cases at both the appellate and trial level.  While there, Valerie presented an oral argument before the Mississippi Court of Appeals and received a reversal of her client’s conviction.  Valerie also served as co-counsel in a federal death penalty case in which she presented to the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. after which they decided not to seek death against her client.

Valerie received her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2016.  While in law school, she was a member of the Mississippi Law Journal and a student-attorney for both the Mississippi Innocence Project Clinic and the Criminal Appeals Clinic.  During Valerie’s tenure with the Criminal Appeals Clinic, she wrote an appellate brief in which the Mississippi Supreme Court ultimately reversed her client’s conviction. Valerie obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Spanish, magna cum laude, from Mississippi State University in 2012.
