Labor and Employment
The Labor and Employment Law Section counsels and represents clients in all aspects of employment relations law, including compliance with federal and state statutes and regulations, maintaining union-free employer-employee relations and protecting management's rights during union organizational campaigns and collective bargaining contract negotiations.
The Section's attorneys appear before not only state and federal courts but also labor arbitrators and federal boards and agencies, including the Office of Federal Compliance Programs, the NLRB, OSHA, and the U.S. Department of Labor - Wage and Hour Division. Representation is provided in claims filed under such statutes as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the ADA, the Family and Medical Leave Act, 301 of the Labor Management Relations Act and Federal Antitrust Laws, as well as wrongful discharge suits.
Clients include construction contractors, wholesale and retail businesses, food processors, food service businesses, manufacturers, oil and gas interests, ship building companies, pulp wood processors, printing companies, steel companies, trucking companies, hotel management interests, banks, insurance companies, educational institutions, and healthcare interests.
