Former U.S. Ambassador Donald B. Ensenat Joins Chaffe McCall

(New Orleans, LA) – Chaffe McCall LLP today announced that U.S. Ambassador (Ret.) Donald B. Ensenat, who served as the United States Chief of Protocol for President George W. Bush and as United States Ambassador to Brunei for President George H.W. Bush, has joined the firm as Senior Counsel in its New Orleans and Houston offices.

About Ambassador Donald B. Ensenat

Amb. Ensenat’s practice experience includes an active litigation calendar, including trials and appeals, domestic and international transactions, including CFIUS review, and advising corporate and sovereign clients on government relations and international matters.  Most recently, he was Of Counsel for Patton Boggs in Washington, D.C. from 2007-2015.  He is a member of the Louisiana, Texas and District of Columbia Bars.

Amb. Ensenat’s government service includes presidentially nominated and Senate-confirmed appointment to the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a federal financial institution. He also was Assistant Attorney General of Louisiana in charge of federal court and Louisiana Supreme Court litigation, and Legislative Assistant to Congressman Hale Boggs and Congresswoman Lindy Boggs. He has further served as an officer or board member of multiple professional, charitable, and political organizations, including as Chair of President George W. Bush’s presidential election campaign in Louisiana in 2000.

Amb. Ensenat is a native of New Orleans. He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University in 1968 and his law degree from Tulane University in 1973. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1968 to 1974.
