Attorney Keith M.
Benit named "St. Tammany Standout"
Keith M. Benit was named a "St. Tammany
Standout" for is volunteer work with the Youth Service Bureau.
Please read the article below taken from the June 3, 2007 issue of the
Mandeville Picayune:
Keith Benit volunteers
as chairman of the board for the Youth Service Bureau. About five years
ago, he took a training class to learn how to serve on the board of a
nonprofit organization. He then requested to serve as an intern on the
YSB board. After a year, Benit was asked to become a board member and
has been active with the Chef Soiree, the organization's budgeting
process and seeking grant funds. The YSB assists troubled youth and
their families through programs of prevention and early intervention
that help kids avoid the court system and that provide advocacy for
those already in the system. For more information on the YSB or to
volunteer, call 893-2570.
Q AND A
What effect has the population shift from New Orleans had on the YSB?
"Since Katrina, the number of people that need our services has
increased 30 percent or more, which has encouraged all of us to work
hard and to do the best that we can with available resources."
Can you think of a specific YSB success story that stands out in your
mind?
"A few years ago we had a young lady who was a recipient of YSB services
and who responded positively to our assistance. I'm happy to say that
since then she graduated from LSU and is now in Washington, D.C.,
working on her master's degree." |

November 2, 2006, at the request of the American Bar Association
(ABA),
Walter Becker and his wife, Laurie, took 27 conference attendees
from the ABA Criminal Justice Section Meeting in New Orleans on
a Chaffe sponsored bus tour of New Orleans. They visited uptown,
Lakeview, the 17th Street Canal breach, West End, the London

for interested conference attendees. The tour contrasted parts
of the city which are still intact with those most heavily
damaged and struggling to recover. As part of the education
process, Walter distributed copies of the Katrina Chronicles, an
account of Chaffe McCall’s experience, to those in attendance.
Walter’s wife, Laurie, leads tours every week for Presbyterian
Church groups who come to New Orleans to help rebuild the city.

Our
New Name: Chaffe McCall, L.L.P.
We have chosen to simplify our
name from Chaffe, McCall, Phillips, Toler & Sarpy, L.L.P. to Chaffe McCall,
L.L.P.
Corinne Morrison, managing
partner, says, "Some points can be made with a few well-chosen words. The
new name, Chaffe McCall, is direct and efficient, like our team approach to
service. We believe that the shorter name more clearly communicates our vision,
which is to offer profound knowledge of the law, to understand our client’s
needs, and to focus on results. Chaffe McCall's record of success in
landmark litigation, as well as its political and civic endeavors, sets us apart
as the exceptional New Orleans law firm -- a position we have continually earned
since 1826." March 15, 2005
