Dial Number: (504) 585-7224 Mr. Grace was graduated cum laude from Tulane University in 1972 with departmental honors in English. He was graduated from Tulane University School of Law in May 1975 where he was elected a Senior Fellow by the faculty and a member of the Moot Court Board for two years. He was graduated from New York University School of Law in May 1976 with a L.L.M. (Taxation). A partner since 1981, Mr. Grace has served the firm as co-chairman of its recruiting committee and as a member of the firm's compensation and legal personnel committees. Mr. Grace is a member of the American Bar Association, Louisiana Bar Association and New Orleans Bar Association and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Tax Court, the United Sates Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, and all federal and state district courts in Louisiana. Mr. Grace has also served as the Chairman of the Tax Advisory Committee of the Louisiana State Bar Association Legal Specialization Plan and as Secretary of the Tax Specialization Plan of the Louisiana State Bar Association. Mr. Grace has broad experience in litigation matters with particular emphasis on state and local tax matters and product liability claims. Mr. Grace has appeared before the United States Supreme Court, Louisiana Supreme Court, all federal and many state district courts in Louisiana, the Louisiana Tax Commission and the Louisiana Board of Tax Appeals. In his appearance before these courts and administrative agencies he has been successful in defending claims for breach of contract, monopolization, personal injuries and tax deficiencies. In connection with his tax practice, Mr. Grace has presented lectures on various state and local tax issues, most notably at the New York University School of Law Conference on State and Local Taxation, the Committee on State Taxation (COST) and the Tax Executives Institute. He has also contributed articles to Interstate Tax Reports and is a Contributing Editor to State Tax Reporter (CCH) and a co-author of the Louisiana Chapter of the ABA Property Tax Deskbook. In addition to a trial practice, Mr. Grace has devoted a substantial amount of time to non-litigation matters, which involve tax and non-tax issues such as mergers, acquisitions, liquidations, reorganizations, tax exempt organizations, trusts and public and private offerings. He has rendered advice to various lenders and borrowers in connection with matters involving loan workouts, loan collections, debt and equity offerings, and fixed asset based loans and long term leases of equipment. Mr. Grace is a member of the boards of directors of various privately owned businesses and public charities. |
