Mr. Chassaignac was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1940. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Tulane University in 1961 and a Juris Doctor degree from Louisiana State University Law School in 1967. He was admitted to the Bar of the State of Louisiana in 1968, and served as law clerk for the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal for two years, prior to entering private practice with Chaffe McCall in 1969.

Mr. Chassaignac was a Special Agent of the Office of Special Investigation (OSI) of the United States Air Force from 1961 through 1964. He is a member of the New Orleans, Louisiana State and American Bar Associations, and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. He has served as a member of the Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators of the American Arbitration Association since 1969.

Mr. Chassaignac has practiced in the field of products liability defense for the past twenty-five years, and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Defense Research Institute Section on Drugs and Devices, and the American Bar Association Section on Products Liability. He is the partner responsible for defense of the firm's pharmaceutical company clients, and heads the firm's subsection on Drugs and Devices.
